Welcome to Downtown R.O.C.K.S
We are a small but feisty group of downtown business and property owners who are riding out the storm of the recession and trying to encourage each other to stay afloat. Although reports indicate that the worst is over and sunny skies are ahead, the storm has left vacant storefronts and discouragement in its wake.
We are reaching out to other downtown stakeholders to unite and strengthen the downtown community by restoring a vibrant, active environment. We want to take a page from the history books and remind ourselves that Alpena is “The town that wouldn’t die”. Throughout history, every economic downturn has been followed by a period of recovery and prosperity based on new challenges and opportunities.
We want to focus on those opportunities and make the most of them. This is the time for innovation and new vision. Downtown buildings are not empty; they are filled with possibilities! This is a great time to start a new business or expand an existing one. There are many Incentives available. By working together, we can harness the power of collaboration, raise the level of enthusiasm and make things happen to improve our downtown business climate.
We are an independent non-profit membership organization focused on preserving our investment as downtown business owners and property owners. We appreciate the support of other organizations who share similar goals and we support theirs, including the DDA, Michigan Arts & Culture Northeast and others. All of us can accomplish more by working together. None of us can do it alone.
We hope you will sign up to be part of this new grass-roots organization. All it takes is $25 and a willingness to shake things up a bit. It’s time to rock downtown!
